90 seconds. That is all it took for Mount Pelée to kill 30 000 people on may 8th 1902, wiping out Saint-Pierre in Martinique. The city was considered at the time as « Martinique’s jewel ».
How could a catastrophe like this occur ? Could it have been avoided ?
The movie « 90 seconds », directed by Audrey Gordon, co-writed by Daniel Picouly and illustrated by Joël Cimarron, allows the viewer to live this historical disaster again, through a new point of view : Mount Pelée’s. The killer mountain tells us her version of the story, today in 2016, in front of historical and scientifical witnesses who are trying to understand what happened.
